Five Bodies of Assam Labourers Missing In Arunachal's Kurung Kumey District Found

Itanagar: Bodies of five Assam labourers, who were among the 19 missing from a road construction site in Arunachal Pradesh's Kurung Kumey district, were found in a dense forest on Friday.

As per Kurung Kumey Deputy Commissioner Nighee Bengia, rescue teams have found five decomposed bodies in the dense forest between Huri and Tapa in the last couple of days.

''The bodies are found on different dates and different locations such as one on July 25, three on July 26, and one on July 28. With the recovery of the five bodies, the number of deaths in the incident rose to six,'' PTI quoted Bengia as saying.

However, the decomposed body could not be brought back.

So far 10 out of the 19 construction labourers from Assam, who went missing near the Indo-China border in Arunachal Pradesh's Kurung Kumey District, were traced and rescued.

According to the rescued labourers, the bodies were that of Forizul Haque, Moijal Haque, Sohar Ali and Abul Hussain. The fifth body is yet to be identified.

The labourers, hailing from Assam, had fled the road construction site along the India-China border on July 5 after they were reportedly denied leave to go home.

Following this, they took off for their homes on foot through jungles in two groups of eight and 11.
